Apr. 20th, 2009 05:55 pmThere are rumors circulating around this school having to do with the reasons for my recent absence. I dislike having to address the matter in this way, but this seems the swiftest means of setting some facts straight.
The following does involve the death of a human being. I suggest those of you who are sensitive to such matters skip this entry.
Earlier this month, the Sûreté du Québec requested my assistance in a hostage situation. The man who had instigated the situation was an escaped felon who had been incarcerated for murder some years previously. He was also a mutant with an involuntary death touch and an exceptionally potent healing factor. We had a past together in that he killed someone of whom I was very fond. The only reason I was called in on the matter was because he was demanding to speak to me in person as a condition of releasing the hostages. Upon my arrival, he allowed two of the three hostages to leave safely, but kept the third in reserve. He wished to die and claimed his healing factor kept him from being able to damage himself quickly enough to allow for a viable suicide attempt, and threatened to murder the hostage if I would not kill him. When he moved to carry out his threat on the hostage's life, I intervened and decapitated him before he could follow through. The police asked that I remain in the vicinity for several days while the matter was investigated, after which I was allowed to leave. At that point, I departed for Muir to get some distance and stayed there for the remainder of the break.
