Greetings and a request
2004-07-13 15:55:00 |
Greetings and a request.
(I do believe I have this figured out - at least partly. The "update journal" page is a little difficult to misinterpret.)
Greetings to staff and students. Thank you to everyone I've met so far for helping me to settle in. You can find me in room 324 and if my door is slightly open, please take that as a sign that company is welcome.
As some have already noticed, I have brought my companion animal with me. Her name is Delphine and she is a purebred Siamese cat (if I've done the icon choice correctly, this post should be accompanied by a small picture of her). Delphine is allowed to go outside the house but I must ask that people refrain from giving her treats, at least those that would normally make a cat happy.
Delphine has a genetic disorder that makes her very ill when she eats animal protein. If you give her anything with animal proteins in it (including dairy products), the least that will happen is that she will promptly be sick on your shoes. At worst, she will need an emergency trip to the vet. She does, however, adore grapes, almonds, cheerios (anything she can chase around the floor, really), and bits of banana. For those of you with small friends, Delphine has the good sense not to attempt to eat small animals and, should one get into her mouth, she will spit it out and be most offended. She gets on well with other animals, in general.
Unfortunately, Delphine makes up for her inability to hunt small animals by stalking laundry and pens. Her favourite "prey" are bundled socks, though she will settle for underthings if she cannot get those. She is also an inveterate thief of pens, preferably your last one. Her "hunting" is not limited to those items but those are the most popular victims. I apologize in advance for this, I simply can't train her out of it. She's so proud of herself when she brings home her "kills". I will attempt to return these things as promptly as possible.

Uh, well, yes. I apologise for the abrupt greeting earlier. I was busy with a student project, I've been working on.
Welcome to the School, Jean-Peal. My name is Elisabeth Braddock, Betsy for short and I was am a teacher at Xavier's Institute. I truly hope you and Delphine enjoy your stay here with us.
If you need help with anything, I'm down the hall in Room 313. I'll be here all day, mostly.
Oh, and if you manage to find any photographs of myself lying about. Don't mind them, it would seem that my photoalbum has exploded. It's a common occurence around these parts, lately.

(I was wondering about those. Well, whoever took the one I found in the fridge downstairs while putting away the soy milk I just picked up definitely has a good eye for light and shadow... among other things. If you'd like it back, drop by any time.)
Nice to meet you, Betsy. You did look preoccupied yesterday, no offense taken. Hopefully we'll get to meet properly later.

Lorna has an icon for that line. I'd start finding something big and nonferrous to use as a shield. :)

Welcome, although I must disagree with the above posters and say that this isn't a madhouse; no one who should be locked in their room is.
With all the animals arriving, menagerie is probably a better term.
I'm Illyana, Piotr Rasputin's sister -- he's large one who teaches Russian and dates the English instructor. And does some kind of bodyguard thing for Professor Xavier. You'll know him if you see him.

Nice to meet you, Illyana. Yes, I crossed paths with your brother earlier. He mentioned you, of course. I agree with your use of the word menagerie. Madhouses don't allow pets.

Good to meet you, Scott. I understand you're busy (though not too busy, apparently, which is a good thing, I think) but I have a few questions about at least one of my courses, especially regarding whether or not I should be making up permission forms for one of them.

Oh dear. That could prove amusing if you consider the frequency that certain boys have sock wars.
I am Marie-Ange Colbert, and if I am to believe the email I am looking at - I am your TA for French, as you are replacing Ms. Frost in teaching that class this upcoming September.

Hi, Clarice. Are you the resident designer-in-training? (I'll confess that I get the tailor to put my buttons back on and anything I can't get him to repair finds its way to the trash. Horribly wasteful, I know.)

Cheers. I'd say something witty about the madhouse and socks and all, but looks like I got here too late. I've been spending mornings working at a local horse ranch, so I tend to miss these things.
I'm Amanda, resident witch and one of the snarky Brits. You would have met our leader, my 'uncle' Pete. Point taken about feeding your friend, and about the hunting and gathering - if you wind up with any weird looking crystals or amulets or such, those are probably mine.

Yes, Pete was kind enough to show me around yesterday. I'll make sure to return any arcane items to you posthaste. I'm fairly sure it's not good for Delphine to hoard such things.

Hi. I'm John. Or Pyro. So far I've managed to avoid being roped into teaching something - not that difficult, considering my rep here - and I'm supposed to be looking at college this term. Still waiting to hear which one. Uh, if you need any help with anything, let me know - I'm just down the hall.

But I suppose too late to be fashionable, unlike Shinobi. :)
I'm Doug Ramsey, resident mutant decoder ring. I'm also dating your French TA, and if you should need any help in languages more esoteric than French, I'm probably your guy, though Nathan speaks an astonishing number as well.
And on the "wishing nobody had heard of you" front, unfortunately that doesn't seem likely. I don't know that I'm as big of a fan as Shinobi, but I've definitely heard of you. :) At least you're in good company, what with Ms. Braddock, Alison, and Shinobi. Heck, even Sarah's got fan sites now.

Welcome to the school Mr. Beaubier! My name is Piotr Rasputin and I teach Art and Russian to the students as well as go on missions with the X-Men and act as the Professor's bodyguard.
Unfortunatly, I do not have any pets to share stories with, but I do love cats. Judging from your picture, she looks to be a beautiful cat.
