I am happy to report that we have arrived safely in Laval and all is well. I would have posted earlier, but Johnny spotted a cinepark on the way back from dinner and nearly bounced out of a moving car in his eagerness to catch a show. I had not been to a drive-in before; I cannot say much for the sound quality, but at least the seating is more comfortable than most theaters. We have already sat through 'Up', which is really a surprisingly good movie, and we are partway through 'Star Trek' which...well, there is a reason I am posting this now. Perhaps I would be more invested if I had ever watched the original. My navigator is still parked on the hood of my car, fascinated, but drooping slightly; if I am lucky, he will fall asleep before the film finishes and I can make good my escape. I may even make sure he is in the passenger seat first.
Tomorrow is Montreal and the old neighborhood. I have already promised to take Johnny to the bistro and I imagine I will be in for another lecture from certain people for vanishing for so long again.
Bonne nuit.

It is only the first day out, but so far, so good. I await the inevitable "...but I have my learner's permit and great reflexes".

Ah the joy of being a teenager and overeager to prove how adult one is.

Why do you insist on being out of the country when I need you?
Glad you are enjoying the trip so far but damnit, I am going to need a drinking partner tonight!

It's a date. Meet you by the garage around 4 if that's good for you.

Sure, but you get to put up with me complaining about my lack of nap.
Seriously, though, I have to look in on someone this afternoon, so my schedule is a bit up in the air. I'll send you a text if I'm going to be late.

Sweetie, with the way my day is going? You'll get your nap after I pour a few bottles down your throat.
Just let me know. I'm not sure how long my meeting is going to run, either so I'll text you if it looks like I'm gonna be stuck.

I would apologize, but dessert today was fantastic and I see Jake has volunteered to stand in my place. Next time, hopefully.

Heathen. I see I'm going to have to educate you in the finer points of Star Trek when you get back.

I am not certain how anything can excuse the paper-thin storytelling and annoying amounts of lens flare in that movie, but you are welcome to try.
